About Me

It all began at the age of 11 when, after my first few sessions of surfing I very quickly became a surf addict. In parallel to my passion for surfing, I have always been interested in creating, firstly by doing graffiti for 15 years in my home town of Paris which then evolved towards the creation of collages influenced by my love of surfing and my new surroundings on the Portuguese coast.

Ciel Glue is a French artist based in Portugal working predominantly with collage based medium.

His influences began with his love of surfing and the ocean. Mixing the worlds of art and literature, his creation residing around the sentence ‘To read the wave’.

As he’s been riding the wave of the development of his artwork it has taken him to new areas of exploration, expanding his creation to the worlds of golf, sailing and skiing, but still staying true to his roots of merging art and literature:

Reading the Green

Reading the Ocean

Reading the Slopes

Ciel Glue’s work plays on the idea of timelessness using vintage imagery to add an element of not only fun but an understanding that surf, ski, golf, sailing etc. will never age.

The artworks are created from vintage magazines, old books and novels; classics and the lesser known authors, vintage magazines and coloured paper. The re-use of vintage mixed media makes Ciel Glue’s collage artwork the perfect sustainable home design pieces.

I take great pleasure in finding these images of vintage surfers, their lives destined to the closed pages of a dusty magazine at the back of a library and rescuing them from their dark, eternal fate. Bringing them back to the ocean and placing them on the waves of their life. Giving back to them that feeling of the first drop in.

To Read the Wave

First you read it, then you shred it.

Just like a surfer on a wave.
